How to use NAS to save video file

The full name of NAS is Network Attached Storage, which can store data in large-capacity devices through the network, such as computer disks or dedicated network storage servers.

If users need to store ZowieBox recording data in the computer, please first ensure that the computer and ZowieBox are in the same LAN, and then configure the computer in the following order.

Save video files to computer

1、Create a User Account

Right-click the Start button and click Computer Management.

Click Local Users and Groups and right-click Users to create a new user.

Type in a User name( eg: ZowieBox) and Password(eg: ZowieBox) and them choose Password never expires.

Create a Share Directory on PC

Create a new folder on a drive you want.(eg: D:zowiebox)

Click the folder and right-click Properties and click sharing->Share….

Click the drop-down arrow to select the user just added and click Add. Change the permission level of this user to Read/Write.

Click the folder and right-click Properties again and click sharing->Advanced Share….

Click Permissions and allow all permissions for Everyone. And then click Apply.

Install Windows Service

Use shortcut key Win+R and then enter ‘control‘ to call out the control panel.

Make sure all the options in the red boxes below are ticked and save.

Test Share Directory

Use another computer on the same LAN.

Use the shortcut key Win+R, and enter the path of the Share Directory in the input box.

Configure ZowieBox

Log in to the web console of ZowieBox, click Setting->Network->NAS in turn.

Click ‘+Add’ button to add a new NAS.

Name: Please enter a manageable name

NAS type: currently only supports CIFS

Remote IP: Please enter the IP of the computer where the shared directory is located.

Share Directory: Please enter the shared directory path. (For example, the location of the shared directory is D://zowiebox. The path that needs to be entered is only zowiebox. )

Mount options: Enter the username and password created before after the =.

After the parameters are configured successfully, please click the Save and Open NAS button,and the NAS will be mounted successfully.

Then click Streaming -> Record, ZowieBox has automatically created a recording task for the NAS, and users can start recording by clicking the recording button.

Store video files in Synology NAS

Create a folder

Log in to the Synology web configuration interface. Click Control Panel to select the shared Folder.

Click the Create button to create a new folder.

Enter the file name and select a location to create the folder, then click Next.

Check the folder information and click Apply.

Create a new user account

 

Click on Control Panel and then click on User.

Click Create to create a new user account.

Enter the name and password and click Next.

Select the groups and click Next.

Change the permissions of the shared folder just created to read/write and click Next.

Assign the usage quota and click Next.

 

Assign the application permissions and click Next.

Confirm settings and click Apply.

 

Test the shared folder

Press the Win+R and enter the folder path in the pop-up window. If users can enter the folder by entering the correct username and password, the configuration is successful.

Configure the ZowieBox page

 

Log in to the web console of ZowieBox, click Setting->Network->NAS in turn.

Click ‘+Add’ button to add a new NAS.
